So Proud

So it was December and we've talked with our three year old, Ella, about the birth of Christ and why our family celebrates Christmas. We've explained that the reason we give gifts at this time of year is because we are celebrating the birthday of Baby Jesus. God loves us so much that He gave his son Jesus as a gift to us so we would understand God more. Jesus would grow up telling about God and then die on the cross for all of our sins. When we accept Jesus and decide to love Him, He lives in our heart and helps us share God's love with others. We talk about these things weekly, but you never know if she understands such a concept. Well, the week before Christmas Ella walks into Daddy’s room carrying a box with a few toys and books inside. The conversation goes:

Ella: “Daddy – pretend you are Jesus.”
Daddy: “Ok – I am Jesus.”
Ella holding up the box to him: “Jesus, here is a present for you. Thank you for giving me a new heart.”
Daddy: “ohh, Ella I love you so much. That was wonderful”

I am amazed at her conceptualization. How does her little brain understand this? So, we may give gifts and shop around in the madness for the perfect item. But our Lord God gives us more than we could ever desire.
